PTA Meeting
Many thanks to all the parents who attended our first meeting of the Parent-Teacher Association. It was great to see such a great turn-out. It was agreed that at the next meeting a group of officers will be chosen for the coming year: Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Treasurer and Deputy Treasurer. The next meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, 21st October at 19.00. Those attending discussed the role of the PTA, and Matt answered questions about the school. The PTA will have an important role in coordinating parent volunteers in the school, organising events, providing feedback to the Board of Management regarding policies and supporting the development of our school.
Board of Management
A reminder that nominations for male and female parent nominees to the Board of Management must be received by Monday, 5th October. The election will take place before the mid-term break. Please reply to this email if you wish to nominate yourself or another parent.
Toys
We’d kindly ask that children not bring personal toys to school unless specifically asked to do so such as for show and tell. Thanks for your cooperation!
Languages and National Origins
Over the next couple of weeks we will update the flags and languages posted in the school, based on the information we have. If you see an omission or error, please inform Matt or Áine.
Public Health Nurse Visit
The public health nurse visited the school on Thursday, 1st October for a hearing and vision screening for half of the junior infants. She will return this week to finish the rest of the screenings.
Visit to Barna Woods
A reminder that the whole school will visit Barna words on Friday, 9th October. Parents are most welcome to join us. The bus will leave the school at 9.30 and return by 12.30. Please let us know if you will be able to join us. Parents may wish to meet at the school and carpool. Children should bring appropriate clothing, including a raincoat. Children may bring in a change of shoes as well.
