School Closures

The school will be closed on Wednesday, 7th October.  This is the first of a number of closures to facilitate the introduction of the new Primary School Curriculum.  Afterschool @ KETNS will offer a one-day camp.  This is the first of a number of closures over the coming years as we enact the new curriculum.

The second school closure will take place on Thursday, 5th November.  This closure is to facilitate training for all staff related to our autism classes and facilitated by the National Council for Special Education.  Again, Afterschool @ KETNS will have a one-day camp.

Further closures to support curriculum enactment will take place over the course of the year.  Two further closures will take place on the following days, Wednesday, 25th November 2026 and Monday, 17th May 2027.  One additional closure will take place, but a date has not been confirmed.  Afterschool @ KETNS will be open on those days as well.

Coffee Morning in Aid of Galway Hospice

We look forward to welcoming all parents to a coffee morning in aid of Galway Hospice this Friday, 25th September from 9.00-10.30.  Drop in any time that suits you.  This annual tradition is a great way for families from across the classes to meet one another as well as to support a very worthy cause.  Parents are welcome to bring baked goods to share, and tea and coffee will be provided.  We also will have a collection to support Galway Hospice.

PTA AGM

Our first Parent-Teacher Association meeting will take place on Monday, 28th September at 9.00 in the staff room.  All are welcome!  We will be choosing officers for the year, reviewing the PTA constitution (see attached) and confirming plans for the coming year.  Please join us!

Cumann na mBunscol

Last week two Gaelic football teams represented the school at mini-7 interschool competitions.  While both teams faced adverse weather conditions, particularly the boys’ teams, they played very well and enjoyed the experience.  The camogie and hurling teams are in action soon.

Cross Country Competition

Well done to the 31 children who represented the school yesterday at the cross country competition.  Everyone ran fantastic races, and we’re delighted one child qualified for the next stage of competition.
