Coffee Morning
There will be a Coffee Morning in the school on Friday, 18th September from 12.00-13.00 in aid of Galway Hospice. This will be a great opportunity to meet other parents as well as support a very worthy cause. Donations of baked items are most welcome, and volunteers are needed to help on the day. Please speak to Vivienne if you can assist.
Afterschool Clubs
The afterschool clubs will resume beginning Monday, 21st September. There will be four options, as described below. Parents are asked to pay for the term up front to each club leader at the first session. As some of the clubs are limited to a specific number of participants, please sign up on the noticeboard by the senior infants’ coat hooks. There will be 12 sessions of each class between now and the end of December, with the exception of the visual arts classes which will have 10 sessions ending on 1st December.
- Monday – Music with Lisa – €60
Lisa Seary is a qualified vocal music teacher with experience working at Stageoach Theatre Arts, St John the Apostle NS and other organisations in Galway.
- Tuesday – Visual Arts with Sylvia – €60
Sylvia Moss returns to our school this year. She also teaches visual art classes in other primary schools in Galway. The fee includes all materials.
- Wednesdays – Basketball with Vivienne – €60
Vivienne, a member of the teaching staff, will again be offering basketball skills lessons. She is a qualified basketball coach.
- Thursdays – Capoeria with Lisa – €60
Lisa returns to our school to continue the capoeira lessons. She teaches in a variety of settings around Galway.
Homework
Homework for senior infants will begin later this week. Details of this will be given to parents. Homework for junior infants will be introduced later this year.
Home Time Procedures
A reminder that children will be collected from the yard at the end of the day. On rainy days, parents will be invited to collect their children from the classrooms.
Fruit First
Many thanks to everyone for sending in very healthy lunches for your children. Many children brought in fruit for the first break, a great way to help your child have a healthy lunch.
Enjoying “fruit first” at little break!
Scholastic Book Orders
As we ran out of the book order leaflets, we requested more to be sent, which will be distributed to the senior infants as soon as they arrive. The deadline for returning them has been extended to Monday, 28th September.
Aistear
The senior infants began going to the Aistear room for structured play this week. The junior infants will start this coming week.
