Parent Volunteers
Later this week a form seeking parent volunteers will be added to your child’s homework folder. Vajeeha Ali has taken on responsibility for organising volunteers during the school day. The two main ways to get involved are reading with children individually and joining us for Aistear time. Please look for this info later this week, and return it to school in the folder. Many thanks in advance for your support.
Spare Change
As a community fundraiser, we’ve decided to collect any spare change (especially those obsolete 1 and 2c coins) between now and the end of the term. Money raised will go to the Galway Simon Community. A plastic jar in each classroom will be in place from tomorrow until the 21st December. We’ll announce the amount raised and the children’s chosen charity at the end-of-term assembly.
PTA Meeting
A reminder that the next meeting will be on 16th December 2015 at 19.00. We’ll plan a social event for families that will take place in the new year. We’ll also look at a draft of a Healthy Eating Policy. A small clarification regarding the minutes last week – yogurt is fine unless it is chocolate yogurt.
End-of-Term Celebration
We will mark the end of the term with a whole-school assembly on Tuesday, 22nd December at 11.30. There will be festive songs and stories. All parents and family members are invited to join us. This will be followed by a potluck meal. If you are able, please consider bringing something to share. To ensure we have a good mix of things, a sign-up sheet will be posted on the notice board by the senior infant coat hooks.
Class Lists
At last, class lists will be distributed later this week. (Thanks for your patience!) These will allow parents to contact each other to arrange playdates, birthday parties and other celebrations. We’d kindly ask all families to respect each other’s privacy and use the lists for this purpose only.
