Mid-term Break
A big thank you to everyone for such a fantastic start to the school year! We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable mid-term break. The school will be closed next week, though Afterschool @ KETNS will be offering a four-day camp. We look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday, 3rd November.
Parent-Teacher Meetings
Many thanks to the parents who attended the parent-teacher meetings this week. Special thanks to the teachers for all the extra effort required for the meetings. If you have not had a meeting yet, please reach out to your child’s class teacher to schedule one.
Galway Science and Technology Festival
Today children brought home information about the Galway Science and Technology Festival that takes place on Sunday, 9th November at the University of Galway. Workshops can be booked online from 1st November from 9.00. More information is available at https://galwayscience.ie/.
6th Class Writing Workshop
6th Class were invited to attend a Creative Writing Workshop in Westside Library as part of The Children’s Book Festival. The workshop was led by Patricia Forde, Laureate na nÓg and a Galway native, and Mary Murphy, celebrated author and illustrator. They prompted 6th class to create stories and characters based on objects and pictures. 6th class came up with some wonderful back stories and plots for the created characters – from possessed toys to kidnapped frogs and rich man redemption!

Baboró
Several other classes went to Baboró events over the past week. We are lucky to have this annual festival in our city. First through Sixth Class all attended an event including art experiences and performances.

Go n-éirí an t-ádh leat, a Fhionnuala
At our assembly today, we wished Fionnuala and her teammates the very best of luck as she plays with Salthill Knocknacarra GAA Club in the Camogie Senior Club Championship this weekend. Go n-éirí an t-ádh libh!

Maths Week
Last week the whole school celebrated Maths Week with extra activities and challenges. All the children completed a maths trail with younger children pairing up with older children for the task. Several classes participated in an online quiz, and all the classes had great fun as we are exploring the new curriculum which has an emphasis on play, creative thinking and lots of conversations about maths.

Halloween
Well done to everyone for the amazing and creative costumes for Halloween today! They were impressive. We had a fantastic assembly, a great yard disco and plenty of fun and games.
