Hot Lunches

Today you will notice that your child brought home their hot lunch in a box from Carambola.  This is a change in practice that we had flagged earlier.  It was in response to the survey as many parents said they’d like to know how much their children are eating at lunch.  It also will help you make choices that match your child’s preferences.  Please do not reheat or consume the food brought home in the box. Each day the box needs to be returned to school.  Our advice is to you the box to bring your child’s morning snack (ideally a piece of fruit or some vegetables) so that it is not forgotten at home.  Carambola has told us that new menu options are awaiting approval from government dieticians and should be available soon.

Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club is open to all children enrolled in the school, providing breakfast and supervision from 8.00 onwards.  There is no need to book ahead, and parents will be invoiced at the end of the month.

Class Meetings

We will have a series of meetings for parents with your child’s class teacher to introduce the year over the coming weeks.  This is to improve communication between home and school as part of our wellbeing focus.  A separate email will be sent out soon.

School Secretary Strike

As you are all aware, Claudia, along with secretaries and caretakers across the country, are on strike in an effort to seek pension and working conditions parity.  We are in full support of their efforts.  During this time, you will find that the phone will often not be answered, the door may be locked at the front of the school and requests ordinarily made to Claudia are on hold.  We ask for your patience during this time.  If you have an urgent request, please email Matt or your child’s teacher.  We hope that a resolution will come soon that is a favourable outcome.  We encourage parents to contact elected representatives to advocate on behalf of these key workers in schools, highlighting the essential role they play.  For more information about the strike please visit https://www.forsa.ie/faqs-strike-secretaries-caretakers-pensions/

School Expenses

Many thanks to those who have paid the school expenses for the current year.  Due to Claudia not being in the office, cash payments are not possible.  The €35 can be paid via bank transfer or in cash at the office.

Afterschool Clubs

Due to Claudia’s absence, it is difficult for us to organise the afterschool clubs.  Once we have a sense of when this is possible, we will send out full details.
