County Photos
The photographer will visit the school to take individual and class photos on Tuesday, 15th October. This will take place early in the day.
Parent-Teacher Meetings
This year parent teacher meetings will take place the week before the mid-term break. Parents can choose an appointment time using Aladdin Connect. Families with siblings will be able to sign up first, beginning Thursday, 10th October to help you choose times close together. All teachers will have meetings on Tuesday, 22nd October. To facilitate the start of the meetings, school will close at 14.15 on 15th October. Other appointment times will be available throughout the week. If you have any difficulties choosing an appointment time, phone the school for assistance.
Flu Vaccine
We have arranged for the nasal flu vaccines to be administered in the school on Tuesday, 22nd October. Consent forms will be distributed to parents soon, and these will need to be returned to the school to avail of this free service.
Halloween Costumes
Children are invited to dress up on the last day before the mid-term break, Friday, 25th October. We’d kindly ask that children not bring anything to school resembling a weapon. We’ll have lots of activities that day to celebrate Halloween. We will have a collection that day to support Educate Together’s One Day Together annual fundraiser to support their work in expanding school choice and supporting existing Educate Together schools.
Mid-term Break
The school will be closed for the mid-term break from Monday, 28th October through Friday, 1st November. Afterschool @ KETNS will be running a four-day camp from Tuesday to Friday.
Parent-Teacher Association Meeting
Many thanks to the many parents who came to the first Parent-Teacher Association meeting on Monday morning. It was great to see so many in attendance. It was decided to have the Annual General Meeting on Monday, 21st October at 9.00 at the school. As explained at the meeting, all parents and teachers are automatically members. A committee leads the association, and we will choose parents for the committee and leadership roles at the AGM. We’ll also review the work of the PTA last year and our plans for the coming school year.
Pedestrian Gate
A reminder to everyone that the first gate as you approach the school is for cars. Cyclists and pedestrians should use the second gate when they arrive at school.
Walk to School Week
This year’s Walk to School Week runs from 7th-11th October. Walk to School Week promotes walking and encourages as many students as possible to walk or Park & Stride to school. Walking to school is one of the best ways to start the day with multiple benefits to children’s physical and mental health. The green school committee tracked how many students in each class walked or used Park & Stride (sustainably) to travel to school on WOW, Walk on Wednesday. The class with the most students travelling sustainably will be awarded the golden boot trophy for their efforts.
Irish Lessons for Parents
Irish classes for parents will resume on Friday mornings starting from 8th November. All levels are welcome to attend, including absolutel beginners and those with more experience. The classes will run from 8.50 until 9.30. Tá fáilte roimh cách! (Everyone is welcome!)
