Bank Holiday
A reminder that the school will be closed on Monday, 3rd June for the Bank Holiday as well as Tuesday, 4th June. School will reopen on Wednesday, 5th June.
Sports Day
Our annual Sports Day is scheduled to take place on Friday, 7th June. As always, we’re looking for parent volunteers who are willing to lead simple activities. The success of our Sports Day has always been down to the generous parent volunteers. Volunteers will need to be available from 9.15 to 12.15. All the equipment and activities will be arranged in advance, so all you have to do is come and assist us. If you are able to join us, please sign up.
10th Anniversary Celebration
We are looking forward to celebrating our 10th Anniversary with a special assembly and party on Wednesday, 19th June. All families are invited to attend a special assembly. To accommodate everyone altogether, the assembly will take place at Knocknacarra Community Centre. It will begin at 12.45 and last approximately one hour. Each class will share some of their learning from the year, we will celebrate all the achievement of the last 10 years and we will thank everyone in our community who helped us reach this milestone. After the assembly, the children will return to the school, and parents and children will be invited to a party with some great refreshments and entertainment. More details will follow but please mark your diaries!
Bike Week
We had some fantastic events for the end of our Bike Week celebrations. Congratulations to all the children for their fantastic helmet designs. Two children were selected as winners and received a new helmet. It was also so great to see the bike shelters so full for the occasion of our bike disco. It was absolutely brilliant to see so many children using active transport. Well done to the Green School Committee for organising these events.

What a wonderful sight – full bicycle shelters!

The helmet design competition winners. Thanks to West Ireland Cycling for sponsoring one of the helmets.
School Tours
The junior side of the school recently had their school tours. The Junior and Senior Infants had a great day out at Turoe Pet Farm. 1st and 2nd Class had great fun at the Burren Nature Sanctuary.

STEM Outings
There were several special STEM outings for our older classes. 6th Class recently participate in the First Lego League Explore event sponsored by Galway Education Centre where they shared their amazing and complex lego robotics creations and showed off their great coding skills. They also showed all the classes their creations, and everyone was very impressed and enjoyed interacting with the clever robotic devices that 6th Class produced. Yesterday 5th and 6th Class visited Boston Scientific for Future Makers Festival. More pictures of both events are available on the STEM page of our school website.

Next School Year
We’d kindly ask any family whose children will not be returning to the school to contact Matt or Claudia as we have lengthy waiting lists for some of the senior classes.
First Holy Communion and Confirmation
Congratulations to the children in 2nd Class and 6th Class who recently received the sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation.
Video featuring Our School
Earlier this year two members of the Inspectorate of the Department of Education visited our school to document how we are supporting children in having an active voice and enhanced participation and leadership in our school community. You can find the short video made during their visit to our school here:
Family Table Quiz
The family table quiz organised by the Parent-Teacher Association will take place on Friday, 21st June, a week later than previously announced.
Artwork

Last year two classes worked with Críona Scannell to create a beautiful piece of art that demonstrates our school ethos. It is now finally up in the school opposite Third Class.

Fran, who leads the arts classes after school, is organising an arts camp in the school for the first full week of the summer break.
