We Need You!!
On the penultimate day of school, we will have a Sports Day. We are looking for approximately 6-8 parents who may be free to help lead some sports activities. Training will be provided! This will take place from 10.30 on Thursday, 25th June. Also, we’ll have a potluck family picnic back at the school beginning at 13.00. We’ll have a potluck and are asking families to bring in something to share. Sign-up lists for the sports activities as well as the potluck picnic will be posted at the school entrance on Monday.
Final PTA Meeting
Before the school year comes to a close, we will have a final PTA meeting in the school on Friday, 19th June at 8.50. This meeting will allow us to plan for next year as well as give parents the opportunity to give feedback on draft policies. We will talk about the formal establishment of the PTA which will take place in the autumn.
Calendar 2015-2016
The calendar of school openings and closings is now available on the website. Please take note of the dates, and we’d strongly recommend families take this into account when planning family holidays to ensure every child’s maximum participation in our school community.
On-Site Afterschool Childcare
It has been proposed to provide an on-site childcare service in the school. This would be in addition to the afterschool clubs that will continue to be offered next year. This service would provide childcare from 13.30 until 17.30 daily in the school. Please let Matt know if you would be interested in this for your child. Fees and further details will be announced soon.
School Tour
Our school tour to Loughwell Farm will take place on Tuesday. Many thanks to the parents who have paid for the trip. We’ll leave school at 9.00 and will be back for the normal home time at 13.30.
Portfolio Meetings
Thank you to all the parents for coming in to view your child’s portfolio with them and to meet with the teachers. End-of-year written reports will be hand-delivered to parents next week.
School Fees and Voluntary Contribution
As explained at the recent parent-teacher meetings, the fees for next year will be €80. These fees will pay for all reading books, materials, copies, art crafts supplies, photocopying and the Educate Together Subscription. As before, the only thing parents are required to purchase directly is a school bag and lunch box. We’d kindly ask parents to pay half of this amount before the end of the month so we can purchase the schoolbooks over the summer. The balance should be paid by 1st September.
In addition, to help support the school and ensure that we can provide the best educational experience possible, parents may wish to make a voluntary contribution to the school. Although any contribution is very welcome, a suggested amount of €50 would help us continue to provide transport for outings, support the day-to-day costs, help us purchase new learning materials and ensure that we can develop as an effective learning community.
Gaeilge

bábóg (bah-boag) – doll
traein (train) – train
tarracóir (tar-uh-core) – tractor
