New Term of Afterschool Clubs
Many thanks to everyone who signed up for the afterschool clubs which commence next week, with the exception of the music class for infants with Matt that will now commence on 27th April. Several clubs still have spaces, so check with Claudia if you are interested in signing up your child.
Spring Fair
The Spring Fair is a week away on Saturday, 25th April from 12.00 to 16.00. Many thanks to all the parents who are working hard to plan another great occasion for our school.
The Spring Fair is the only fundraiser we do as a school community, and its success is directly linked to helping support our learning community. Anyone is welcome to join us on the day including friends, family and neighbours. The proceeds from the Spring Fair have been used to pay for buses for all excursions outside of annual school tours. The money raised has allowed us to pay visiting art, music and PE teachers, the ukulele lessons for 4th and 5th Class and participation fees for inter-school competitive events. We also will direct some of the fundraising towards the development of sensory spaces in the autism classrooms and a revamp of the courtyards.
Raffle tickets were sent home last week. Sincere thanks to all the donors who have contributed such great prizes. Please return the ticket stubs (the part where the purchasers write their name and contact details) and money collected in the envelope provided to the office. If you aren’t able to sell the tickets, please them as well.
More importantly, the Spring Fair is the highlight of the year for the children in our school. They enjoy the various activities, all of which are only possible due to the generous time and commitment of the parents who volunteer to make it happen. This year we will have a craft market, a café, carnival games, an obstacle course, a silent disco, karaoke, face painting and more.
Therefore, we make a plea to all parents to sign up to volunteer for an hour time slot and range of roles.
This year we will be selling wristbands starting next week afterschool each day. You can also buy them on the day of the fair. Each wrist band is €2 or €5 for a family (2 adults and 2 children). The wristbands will give children a chance to guess the number of sweets in a giant jar as well as access to all carnival games, the obstacle course and the disco. Adults can receive one tea or coffee with their wristbands.
As usual we will have face painting, candy floss, popcorn and cupcake decorating workshops.
If you, your child or someone else would like to have a stall in the arts and crafts market, please reply to this email.
We have a book stall again this year, so please bring in good quality second-hand books for adults and children. You can drop them off from Friday morning, 24th April onwards.
Finally, everyone is asked to bring something for the café, so be thinking about what you might be able to bake. This can be brought to the school from the afternoon of 24th April onwards. Thanks in advance for your support!
Finally, we encourage everyone to use active travel to attend the fair (bike, walk, ride a scooter) if at all possible and park responsibly if driving.
FAI 5-a-side Soccer Competitions
Two girls’ teams and two boys’ teams represented the school at the FAI 5-a-side Soccer Competitions held at Mervue United. Despite some rain, the teams did a great job and really enjoyed the experience.
