Mid-Term Break
School will reopen on Monday, 2nd November.
Open Evening
The school will hold an open evening on Wednesday, 4th November from 18.00-19.30. All are welcome, particularly any prospective parents who would like to learn more about our school. Please spread the word about this opportunity to view our temporary school premises and to meet our staff.
PTA Meeting
The PTA met for the second time on Wednesday evening. A group of officers for the coming year was selected. A summary of the meeting can be found below. The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, 18th November at 19.00. All parents are most welcome to attend.
Board of Management
Waqas Khawaja and Lynn Morgans have been selected as the new parent nominees for the Board of Management. At the next meeting, two community nominees will be chosen by the existing six members to complete the constitution of the new Board.
Enrolment Policy
A reminder that our school’s enrolment does not have a sibling right-of-entry policy. The policy is strictly first-come, first-served. Already we have pre-enrolment lists for junior infants for each year through 2020. To avoid any uncertainty or disappointment, please be sure you complete a pre-enrolment application at our website (www.ketns.ie/pre-enrolment).
Popcorn Balls Fundraiser
The senior infants have been learning about refugees for the last two weeks. Many thanks to everyone who supported their fundraiser to raise money for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees. We raised just under €100. Thanks for your generosity!
Second-Level Educate Together Schools
A two-part series, A Different class, which tells the story of the establishment of an Educate Together secondary school is currently being aired on RTÉ. If you missed the first episode, it can be viewed on the RTE Player at http://www.rte.ie/player/ie/show/a-different-class-30003631/10483124/. For those parents interested in establishing a second-level Educate Together school in Galway, please support the efforts of the Galway Educate Together Second-Level Start-up Group (www.get2ls.org). No matter the age of your child, you can complete an expression of interest form which will help support the opening of a school in the future.
