PTA Meeting
All parents are invited to attend the first Parent-Teacher Association meeting of the year. It will take place at the school on Wednesday, 30th September at 19.00. This is an excellent way to become involved in shaping our school community. We will talk about the formation of a committee as well as discuss priorities for this year. Please attend!
Board of Management
A reminder that nominations for male and female parent nominees to the Board of Management must be received by Monday, 5th October. The election will take place before the mid-term break. Please speak to Matt if you would like to know more about these important roles.
Languages and National Origins
We are going to try to update the flags and languages posted inside the school to reflect all the languages and nationalities represented in our school, among the pupils and the parents. This is true for both new and returning pupils. Please kindly let Matt or Áine know if your nationality and language is not posted.
Public Health Nurse Visit
The public health nurse will visit the school on Thursday, 1st October for a hearing and vision screening for the junior infants. Please ensure you return the permission forms distributed on Friday as soon as possible.
Visit to Barna Woods
As an advance notice, the whole school will visit Barna words on Friday, 9th October. Parents are most welcome to join us. Unfortunately, we just have enough room on the bus for the children and staff members, but parents can meet us there and join in the activities. We’ll leave the school at 9.30 and return by 12.30. Please let us know if you will be able to join us.
Gaeilge
We have been practising using our manners, both in English and in Irish. Here are two very useful phrases.
Go raibh maith agat (guh rev mah ug-uht) – Thank you
Más é do thoil é (mah shay duh hull ay) – Please
Friday Morning Meeting
As parents are probably aware, each class starts the day with a morning meeting. On Fridays, we gather as a whole-school to share what we’ve been doing during the week. As rugby fever increases during the World Cup, the junior infants learned An Haca Gaelach (Irish Haka) and performed it yesterday.
