Teddy Bear Hospital
The children greatly enjoyed our visit to the Teddy Bear Hospital at the University today. Many thanks to the Sláinte Society, the NUI Galway branch of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations, for such a great event. Each child’s teddy visited the doctor, was given a prescription, had an x-ray and received great care. The children also enjoyed the bouncy castle and giant slide as well as face-painting.
Fundraiser
A meeting will be held on Monday evening at 19.00 to discuss plans for an upcoming fundraiser. We are looking for potential people who would like to set up a stall to sell items as well as others to support the event.
Healthy Eating
Our school is following a healthy eating policy for lunches. We’d ask families to do their very best to send in healthy lunches to ensure children have enough energy for the day as well as to help establish healthy eating habits. We’d kindly ask parents not to send in foods such as chocolate, crisps and fizzy drinks. Here are two leaflets suggesting some healthy options for lunch boxes. We’re also encouraging children to have “Fruit First” at the small break, one of their five-a-day. We’ll be doing several lessons over the next few weeks about healthy eating. For example, we made and tasted leite (porridge) this week during an Irish lesson this week.

We have been making patterns this week using shapes and colours.
Gaeilge
We learned a couple of useful phrases this week related to our conversations about food.
An maith leat ____? (on mah lyat) – Do you like _____?
Is maith liom ____. (iss mah lyum) – I like ____.
Ní maith liom ____. (nee mah lyum) – I don’t like ____.
