Parent Teacher Meetings
Many thanks to all the parents who attended the recent parent-teacher meetings! As always, you are welcome at any time to meet with your child’s teacher either by setting up an appointment by phoning the office, speaking with your child’s teacher or emailing using the teacher’s first name and adding @ketns.ie.
A reminder that the last session of the afterschool clubs will be this week, with no activities in the final week. A new series of clubs for the second term will be announced next week.
End of Term
An end-of-term potluck and assembly will take place on Thursday, 20th December at 13.00. More details will follow. There will be an early dismissal on the final day of term, Friday, 21st December at 12.00.
Parent-Teacher Association Meeting
The next PTA meeting will take place on Wednesday, 12th December at 20.00 in the school. The main agenda item will be planning for the end-of-term potluck and assembly as well as initial steps related to the raffle for the Spring Fair. All are most welcome to attend.
Furniture and Boxes
We are attempting to clear the last of some remaining items from our relocation. If anyone is in need of cardboard boxes, we are happy to gie them for free to anyone. We have approximately 50 of varying sizes. We have some whiteboards and notice boards as well as some computer tables and large poster presses that we intend to either sell or give away. If anyone is interested in these items, please speak to Matt or Claudia. We are also in need of a van that we could use to take some cardboard and other items to the recycling centre in the afternoon. Please reply to this email or complete the volunteering form on the website.
Artist in Residence
Aoife continues to work with the classes on various print-making methods in connection with their special objects. The last step is the creation of a museum in the spare classroom. If possible, it would be great if your child could bring in a small box tomorrow that could hold his or her object.
Many thanks to everyone with you help in supporting our healthy eating policy. It is great to see the wide variety of healthy options in the lunch boxes. As a reminder, crisps, sweets and chocolate are not to be included. The full policy, along with other policies, can be read on our school website: https://www.ketns.ie/about/policies/.
Exciting events took place during Science Week. Two astronomers, Andy and Martin, from University of Liverpool visited the school to talk about our solar system. Also, first class visited the Aquarium where they learned about pressure in the oceans.
First and second class also had a visit from Marina who talked about Irish wildflowers. A follow-up visit will take place in the new year.
We said goodbye to Solveig, our student teacher in 3rd class, who has now returned to Minnesota to finish her last term of her teacher trainer. She shared her violin skills, including a beautiful solo and then a rousing rendition of Baby Shark, at our Friday assembly. We will miss her very much and wish her well in her future career.
We had a great day with our Creative Associate, Dee, who worked with the entire school to seek their feedback on the types of creative activities we’d like to pursue. The next step is to draft a plan.
