Mid-term Break
A reminder that school will be closed for one week for the mid-term break from Monday, 27th October through Friday, 31st October.
Halloween
We will celebrate Halloween on Friday, 24th October. Children are invited to wear fancy dress for the occasion and should wear their costume to school. We’d ask that nothing resembling a weapon be brought to school as part of a costume. We’ll have a small party, with a small costume parade at the end of the day. We’ll make a special snack that afternoon, bearing in mind the dietary requirements of the children, and play a few games.
After-school Clubs
We are currently offering three after-school clubs. Details about each are below. They will take place from 13.30-14.30 in the school.
- Music and Movement on Mondays with Fiona will begin on the 20th October. Cost is €5 per session and can be paid per session or €40 for the 8 sessions between now and the end of the term.
- Visual Art on Tuesdays with Sylvia will begin after the mid-term break on Tuesday, 4th November. Children should register for the seven sessions. The fee is €42 and should be paid at the first session.
- Capoeria on Thursday with Lisa will begin on the 23rd October. Cost is €5 per session and can be paid per session or €40 for the 8 sessions between now and the end of the term.
Open House
Thank you to everyone who attended the Open House event last night and particularly those who contributed food for the occasion! If you know of anyone who was unable to attend but would like to visit the school, please have them contact Matt to arrange an appointment.
Board of Management
The Board will be constituted in November. It will eventually have eight members. The term of the first Board will be one year. Two of the members will be teachers. Two other members will be chosen by Educate Together, the school’s patron. Two parents of children currently enrolled in the school will be selected by the parents. Once the six members are chosen, they will select two community nominees. This process will be repeated next year when all Boards of Management terms end. Once the Board is in place, we will organise a Parent Teacher Assocation, with membership open to all parents. Please reply to this email if you have any questions.
An Ghaeilge
We’ve been practicing a useful phrase during lunch!
An osclóidh tú é, le do thoil? (On us-cloh-ee too ay leh duh thull) – Will you open it, please?
Barna Woods
We had a fantastic outing to Barna Woods. We were very fortunate to have beautiful weather. We did a treasure hunt, listened to a story and then played at the playground. Sincere thanks to the parents who accompanied us on the day! More photos from the day can be found here.
