Dear Children and Parents,
There is no doubt that that our school, our country and the world is facing into challenging times. While the amount of uncertainty can feel overwhelming, hopefully the situation can be viewed as an opportunity. Despite the long-term consequences of the situation, it has forced us all to take a break from our usual lives and routines. It is a chance for us all to stop, pause and reflect. We hope you all can reconnect within your families and consider what is most important.
The staff has worked over the last few days to put together learning plans for this week and the next. These are lists of suggested activities. You will receive this in a separate email later today. We’ve tried to include a range of options as we know parents are wanting to control the amount of screen time, and we’ve aimed to try to strike a balance between structure and flexibility. Towards the end of next week if schools will remain closed, we will revisit this approach.
Below is a link to a child friendly explanation of the Coronavirus and advice from the Department of Education, We’d suggest limiting how much exposure children have to the news as we’re sure you recognise the anxiety for adults as well as children.
Teachers can be emailed at any time to ask questions. Their emails are on the learning plans that will be sent out soon. They will try to get back to you as soon as possible. For some classes, we are trialing some online resources that require logging in. This information, as well as directions on how to log in, will be sent out today as well. Feel free to email Matt at any time.
We are aware that some families will not have internet access, and therefore, any documents including the learning plan will be available for collection at the school today from 14.00 to 16.00 and tomorrow from 9.00-13.00. You may also wish to borrow some books for reading at home.
Above all, please look after each other and especially your children.
Be safe, be well,
The Staff at Knocknacarra ETNS
Seachtain na Gaeilge
Bhí gníomhaíochtaí iontacha againn an tseachtain seo chaite ag céiliúradh na Gaeilge. Ar an Luan, bhí dioscó ciúin againn. Míle buíochas le Malachy chun é a eagrú. Ar an Máirt, bhí ceardlann dráma againn le James. Ar an Déardaoin, bhí ceardlann rince againn.
We had many enjoyable activities last week to celebrate the Irish language during Seachtain na Gaeilge. On Monday we had a really enjoyable silent disco. Thanks to Malachy for arranging it. On Tuesday all the classes enjoyed a drama workshop with James. On Thursday, all the classes had a great time doing some Irish dancing.
