Sports Day and End-of-Term Assembly
We will have our Sports Day on the penultimate day of school, Tuesday, 27th June. It will take place at Áras Bóthar na Trá (Salthill-Knocknacarra GAA Club), where we had our end-of-term assembly in December. We are looking for parent volunteers to lead activities. The children will be taken to the venue by bus at 10.30. Children will need to bring an ordinary lunch. After the Sports Day activities, we will have an assembly at 13.30. Please note, this means the day will be longer for the children in infant classes. The children will share some songs and poems from the year. The Parent-Teacher Association is making plans to have a small celebration after the assembly. More details will follow. Children can be collected from the assembly or a bus will bring children back to the school. All are most welcome to join us for the Sports Day and assembly!
Last Day of School
The last day of school will be Wednesday, 28th June. We’ll have fun activities to close out the year including a disco and ice cream party. There will be an early dismissal at 12.00.
School Tours
Thank you to everyone who has returned the permission form and payment for the school tours. A reminder that the Infant classes are going to Turoe Pet Farm near Loughrea on Monday, 19th June. First Class will be visiting Brigit’s Garden near Roscahill on Friday, 16th June. All children should bring a lunch for the tour days. Both tours will leave at 8.50 and return to school by 14.30.
Dance, Music and Superhero Training
All the classes had their first session with Miss Laurie this past week. She led the class through different activities, but the highlight was definitely our Superhero Training. She’ll have two more sessions with each class, and the children will share some of the music and movement at the end-of-year assembly.
Congratulations!
We’re delighted to announce that Dariana (First Class) has won the Elevate Colouring Contest. She won a €50 voucher for herself and €200 for the school. First Class will decide how to spend the voucher. Elevate is a research project that is based in NUI Galway which is learning more about indoor air pollutants. Our school participated in one aspect of the study. Congratulations, Dariana!
