On Tuesday, 15th March we raised our Irish flag for the first time.  The Senior Infants read out the New Proclamation written by the children and teachers of our school.  We also learned about the history of the flag before the adults assembled sang Amhrán na bhFiann.  The full text of the New Proclamation is below.

New Proclamation

A New Proclamation

We want Ireland to become a country where everyone is treated fairly:
• boys and girls,
• old and young,
• rich and poor,
• citizens, refugees and visitors,
• people who speak different languages and
• people from different countries.
Whoever makes Ireland their home
• will have enough food,
• will have fresh clean water,
• will be able to see a doctor,
• will have schools for all children and homes for all families,
• will be safe and
• will be happy.
People in Ireland will be fair and share with each other. People who work hard will get paid fairly. We will take care of the environment so we can visit the woods and still swim in the sea. Ireland will be a kind nation and help other countries in need.
