St Patrick’s Day
The school will be closed for the St Patrick’s Day Bank Holiday this Friday, 17th March.
Spring Fair
Apologies for the confusion caused in the last newsletter. The Spring Fair will take place on Saturday, 29th April from 12.00 to 16.00. The PTA met this past week to continue planning for the event. All prizes for the raffle should be gathered and given to Claudia no later than the end of the month. Further details about how to be involved on the day will be announced soon.
Pupils Not Returning Next Year
Almost all the places in our new junior infant class have been filled, and we are going to begin the process of offering places to children who have applied for other classes. Families are kindly asked to let us know if your child will not be returning next year.
World Book Day Event
On a very wet and rainy day, the First Class visited Easons and Cappagh Park. At Easons they had a reading and were able to use the book tokens to take home a book.
Visit of a Veterinarian
We were delighted to have Lindsey, one of the veterinarians who works near the school at Ark Vets, come to the school. She spoke with all the children about her day, answered questions and showed x-rays of dogs. Her visit was fascinating and will help us during Aistear time when playing in our own vet’s surgery.
Voluntary Contribution
Letters regarding making a Voluntary Contribution to the school will be placed in homework folders this week. Many thanks, in advance for your support. Your voluntary contributions make possible many of our outings as well as ensure that the school can provide great learning experiences.
Swimming
Children in first class will be having eight swimming lessons in May and June at Leisureland. A few €60 for the eight sessions will pay for the use of the pool, three specialised instructors and transport. A letter will be sent home to parents in April.
An Ghaeilge
Seachtain na Gaeilge is taking place around the country, and we have been marking the occasion in a number of ways. Below is a helpful phrase for everyone to use at the end of this week.
Lá Fhéile Pádraig Sona Duit!
(law ay-luh pah-drig sunna ditch)
Happy St Patrick’s Day!
