Parent-Teacher Association Meeting

The Parent-Teacher Association Annual General Meeting will take place tomorrow, Monday, 21st October at 9.00 at the school.  While we had an excellent attendance at our first morning meeting, we will discuss how we schedule future meetings to ensure all parents can participate including those who can’t attend morning meetings.

Parent-Teacher Meetings

Parent-teacher meetings will be taking place this coming week. If you haven’t already done so, please sign up for an appointment using Aladdin Connect.  A reminder that school will close at 14.15 on Tuesday, 22nd October.  If you have any difficulties choosing an appointment time, phone the school for assistance.

Flu Vaccine

A reminder that nasal flu vaccines will be administered in the school on Tuesday, 22nd October for those who have returned consent forms by tomorrow.  Cleary’s Pharmacy will be administering the vaccines and has the following messages for parents:

  • If your child will be in school on Tuesday October 22nd, and you have consented to a nasal flu vaccine, and your child has experienced an acute exacerbation of asthma symptoms, increased wheezing and/or additional bronchodilator treatment in the 72 hours beforehand, please contact our team by emailing clearysgalway@gmail.com before 08.30 on Tuesday October 22nd.
  • If you have submitted a consent form and ticked “Yes, I want my child to receive the flu nasal spray vaccination” and have changed your mind, you can withdraw consent by emailing clearysgalway@gmail.com before 08.30 on Tuesday October 22nd with your child’s name and class/teacher name.
  • If your child is not in school on October 22nd, you can bring them to a participating pharmacy or GP to avail of the free children’s nasal flu vaccine at your convenience.

Halloween Costumes

A reminder that children are invited to dress up on the last day before the mid-term break, Friday, 25th October.  We’d kindly ask that children not bring anything to school resembling a weapon.  We will have a collection that day to support Educate Together’s One Day Together annual fundraiser to support their work in expanding school choice and supporting existing Educate Together schools.

Mid-Term Break

The school will be closed for the mid-term break from Monday, 28th October through Friday, 1st November inclusive.  Afterschool @ KETNS will have a four-day camp from Tuesday through Friday.

Admissions Open

The application window to submit admissions applications for places in the school for the 2025-2026 academic year is now open.  Parents can complete an application on our website: www.ketns.ie/admissions.  A reminder that siblings will receive priority as long as an application is submitted within the window which ends at the beginning of January.  Please pass on this info to any neighbours or friends who may have children interested in attending our school.

Solar Panels

Our new solar panels are now commissioned and fully operational.  We have a new monitor opposite the office that tracks the amount of energy produced, and we will use this to raise awareness in our school community.

Terri Claffey Cup 2024

On Friday our school hosted the second Terri Claffey Cup table quiz involving Educate Together schools around Connacht.  Well done to our team who placed third.  A special acknowledgement to two children in our school who admirabally led the quiz including asking the questions, marking the answers and tracking the scores.

Baboró

Several classes attend performances and workshops this past week as part of the Baboró Festival.  Many thanks for your continued voluntary contributions and fundraising that allowed the school to cover the cost of the bus transport for these events.

The first pupil committee meetings took place on Friday.  Here is a picture of this year’s Student Council.
