PTA Meeting

The next PTA meeting will be on Wednesday (15th February) at 19.00 at the school.  The main focus will be planning for the Spring Fair scheduled in early May.  All parents are invited to attend.

Home Time

In the interest of safety, we’d kindly ask that parents enter the school yard and meet their children there in the afternoons as the car park is busy.  Thanks for your cooperation.

Afterschool Club

There will be no arts and crafts this week and the next.  The other clubs continue as usual.

Mid-term Break

A reminder that the school will be closed on Thursday, 23rd and Friday, 24th February.  Afterschool @ KETNS still have places for the full-day camp.

Attendance

Well done to every regarding attendance since the beginning of February.  Our attendance for the month so far has been 99%!

Skype Mystery Call

First Class had a Skype mystery call with another school.  The object of the activity was to ask questions for each class to figure out from where the other classroom was calling.  We had a great time and eventually figured out that we were talking with a second grade class at Western Avenue Elementary School in Flossmoor, Illinois, which is just outside Chicago.  We’d like to the thank them for contacting us for this activity and look forward to future collaborations with this school.

New Aistear Theme and Activities

For the month of February, the theme is building and there are several new activities in the Aistear room.  There is a DIY shop and building site in the imaginative play area.  Children are using playdough to create their own sculptures, and the giant polydrons are being used to build big structures.  Finally, children are using screwdrivers to develop fine motor skills by putting in and taking out screws.
