Tom Meskell and Carmel Balfe, our first Creative Schools Artists

All the classes in the school have been working with Tom Meskell. He is an artist who has collaborated with the classes to create a large, translucent sculpture made out of willow reeds and special paper that withstands getting wet. The outcome of this collaboration is a giant whale!

Tom also worked with the younger children to make prints and led a fantastic workshop with the teachers.

Then Carmel came to work with the classes on making shadow puppets using the whale as a screen as well as nature-based clay and felt scenes.
