End-of-Term Assembly
We will have our end-of-term assembly will be on Wednesday, 21st December. This will take place at Áras Bóthar na Trá, Dr. Mannix Road. This is just off Threadneedle Road at the Salthill-Knocknacarra GAA Club. The children will share songs and poems starting at 13.00. The map showing the location is below. Children can leave directly from the venue with their parents after the potluck. We understand that some parents’ work commitments do not permit them to attend, and we would kindly ask you to let your child’s class teacher know if he or she will need to return to school after the potluck. The Parent-Teacher Association is looking for volunteers to help with set-up and clean-up. Please add your name to the sing-up sheets outside each classroom. A reminder that we’re asking families in junior infants to bring a starter or salad, families in senior infants to bring a main and families in first class to bring a dessert for the potluck that follows the assembly. Enough for 4-6 servings is sufficient. We look forward to a great event.

November Minutes
The minutes from November were ratified.
Pot Luck
- It was decided to put up Sign-Up Sheets on each classroom door to allow parents:
- to volunteer their help in either setting up for the Pot Luck or cleaning up afterwards;
- to state what dish they intend to bring to avoid multiples of the same dish.
- Leftover food will be donated to the Women’s Centre in Salthill (COPE) and/or the Men’s Shelter in Fairgreen.
- Class Parent Representatives (Gosia for Juniors, Ruth for Seniors and Trish for First Class) will send a message to parents relating to all the above.
Spring Fair
- To be held May 6th
- We discussed allotting each representative different places/businesses to visit to request prizes for the Spring Fair.
- We discussed posting in the newsletter the suggestion that parents are welcome to participate in helping to acquire prizes for the Spring Fair.
- We discussed vendors for the Spring Fair. It was suggested that Karolina Sexton would organise the vendors.
- It was proposed that it would be advantageous to expand the Fair out into the Car Park to allow more space for the activities. We realise that this may not be an option.
- We should enrol the help of parents in their area of expertise for the Spring Fair, e.g., Face Painting, Juggling, etc., to add to the fun for the children.
School Plan Consultation Meeting
- This is set for Wednesday, 18th
- This meeting will involve the Board of Management and the PTA.
- It will be held in the school, and all parents are welcome.
PTA Facebook Page
- Daniel has set up the Facebook page but it is not yet active.
Playground
- It was suggested that the playground could be made more attractive for the children.
- It was suggested that the screws be removed from the kitchen/bench area to avoid accidental injury.
- It was suggested that the flower bed box should be fixed.
- Trish’s husband Ciaran will remove the screws and have a look at the flower box.
Next PTA Meeting
- 18th January, 15th February and 15th March are scheduled. Future meetings will be decided at a later date.
