School Closure
A reminder that the school will be closed for staff inservice, as previously announced, on Tuesday 10th March. This is to facilitate training for the teaching staff about the new Primary Curriculum Framework and for other staff members around first aid. Afterschool @ KETNS is running a one-day camp.
World Book Day
Tomorrow Thursday 5th March we will mark World Book Day. Children are invited to dress up as a character from a book. We’ll have lots of fun sharing books and having conversations about them.

Junior Infants, as part of World Book Day celebrations, visited Dubray Books where they met author Marguerite Tonery who read some of her favourite picture books. They visited the playground and had an enjoyable walk in the city centre.
Hot Meals Survey
Our new hot meals provider, Bradbury and Connolly has created a short survey for families to complete to gather feedback on the children’s satisfaction and to help guide our continued growth and development.
Department of Education Visit
Four member of the Student Participation Unit of the Department of Education and Youth visited our school last week to learn about the role of the pupil-led committees in our school and to engage with the children in our school to explore how schools can give greater voice to children using democratic structures in schools. Sincere thanks to the 18 children who represented the school so well and freely shared their ideas and wisdom.

Spring Fair Raffle Prizes
Many thanks to all the parents who have sourced raffle prizes for the Spring Fair. We are still looking for a few more. The raffle accounts for 60% of the money raised each year, and this fundraiser allows us to continue to pay for activities, bus transport and materials for a range of extra activities for the children in our school. Please liaise with Claudia or any member of the Parent-Teacher Association Committee if you can source a prize.
Engineers’ Week
The whole school has been marking Engineers’ Week with several visits from parents who are engineers to classes to share about the work they do. The STEM Committee visited each class to tell them about the important role engineers play in our lives. They also organised a fantastic series of activities in the halla for all the classes to experience working as engineers to solve problems. The committee members led the activities with all the classes very effectively!

Talent Show
Many thanks to all the individuals who shared their talents at the family talent show a couple of weeks ago. It was great to see the range of special abilities and skills within our school community!

Basketball League
The senior yard just completed a basketball league during yard time. Particularly thanks to the 5th and 6th referees who ably organised and led the matches. The final match was an exciting one, with Team 1 beating Team 4. It has been great to see so many individual players improve their skills over the past few weeks.
