Hot Lunches

We are delighted to announce that Knocknacarra Educate Together NS will be changing providers for the Hot School Meal program on Monday 9th February.  We have appointed a local business as our supplier, ‘Bradbury & Connolly’ – HotSchoolMeals.ie, which is based in the Claregalway Corporate Park in Galway (www.hotschoolmeals.ie).

‘Bradbury & Connolly’ – HotSchoolMeals.ie will provide a label for each child which they will bring home from school on Thursday 5th February.  The labels will contain a unique username and password and parents can immediately log in to the Bradbury and Connolly website, www.hotschoolmeals.ie, that evening and order for all 5 days.   Please note you must click ‘Save’ for each day’s choice.  Parents can download the ordering app from the website www.hotschoolmeals.ie. Please note, it takes 36 hours for ‘Bradbury & Connolly’ to pick up an order. To ensure a smooth roll out on Monday 9th February, we are asking all parents to log in and order on Thursday 5th, Friday 6th or Saturday 7th February and order meals for all five days. (Orders submitted on Sunday 8th February will be too late to receive a meal for Monday 9th February.) Cathal & Assumpta from HotSchoolmeals.ie will be on hand all week to assist any parents if required.

Please note, at present we are assuming that those parents not opting to participate in the school meals programme currently will not be included in the roll out.  If you would like your child to receive meals from the new provider and aren’t currently ordering hot meals, please reply to this email or contact Claudia by Tuesday, 3rd February.

Child Safeguarding Survey

Our school is currently reviewing our Child Safeguarding Statement as well as all procedures related to child protection.  A revised draft can be found on our website.  As part of this process, we are consulting staff, children and parents.

Teddy Bear Hospital

The infants had a fantastic time at the Teddy Bear Hospital organised by the Sláinte Society at the University of Galway.  All the teddies got the care they needed, some children gave radio statements and everyone had a good time at the playground too!

Connacht Minor Schools Swimming Championship

Several children this weekend represented the school at an inter-school swimming competition.  It was great to have so many participants from our school enter the contest for the first time.  Sincere thanks to the parents who organised and attended the competition.  Special recognition to three children who qualitied to participate in the Irish Championship in Dublin at the end of March!

Ennis Choral Festival

On Friday, the school choir participated in the Ennis Choral Festival by competing in the Primary School Choir Competition.  This was the first term our school choir participated in a competition.  They performed extremely well, drawing praise from the judges and earning a score of 86, just four points behind the first place choir.  More importantly, they really challenged themselves over the last few weeks and have developed new skills.  Many thanks to the parents who showed support to the choir by attending on the day.

Healthy Heroes

Second Class recently visited the University of Galway for the annual Healthy Heroes event.  They participated in many activities to learn more about staying healthy.

Matt to do up letter asking businesses for prizes (these can be collected in the office). List of businesses to request prizes from to be done up. Printing of raffle tickets in house (March).
